Over 20 years
in and around trees.

Their own words, and they have earned them: Above and Beyond has been in and around trees for over two decades. The owner, Joe, has been chopping trees down since he was a young teenager. That is the difference between a crew that owns a chainsaw and a crew that can look at a leaning silver maple over your roof and tell you exactly how it is coming down, in what order, and where every piece lands.

Our work

Roped in, cut down,
ground flush.

Every photograph on this page is Above and Beyond’s own work in Central New York. Climbers roped into the crown, the grinder throwing chips, storm-dropped hardwoods cut off a road, and what a trunk looks like when it comes apart and you can finally see why it had to come down.

Over 20 years in and around trees

Every ring is a year. So is every job.

You can read a tree’s whole life on the face of the cut. The wet years wide, the dry years tight, the scar where a limb tore off forty winters ago.

Reading the tree before it comes down is the entire job. Which way it leans, where the weight actually sits, whether that trunk is sound or hollow behind the bark. Get it right and a sixty-foot maple comes apart in pieces you can carry. Get it wrong and it goes through a roof.

“They did trees on my property and they were very nice and do amazing work — they are very good at what they do, and they clean up and leave your property clean. Would recommend them to everyone.”
